Dr. Irene Thiguku Kamanja is currently teaching at Egerton University for both Undergraduate and Post graduate courses. She has specialised in Pharmacology and Toxicology and also worked in other training institutions including ; Animal Health Institute of Industrial Training, Meru Institute of Science and Technology, Thaita Secondary and Muchonoke Secondary Schools. She has worked in government with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock Development and Fisheries both before and after devolution. 

She was educated at the University of Nairobi for both Under and Post graduate programmes. She attended  Alliance girls High School for her secondary and high school education, trained at NYS for three months before joining University Education. Her foundation or Primary education was at Mutuma Primary School.
